Privacy Policy
Last updated September 15, 2026
This policy explains what personal information Remowise collects when you use our website and platform, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to homeowners, contractors, suppliers and visitors.
1. Who we are
Remowise (www.remowise.com) is operated by Remowise, based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada(“we”, “us”). We run an online platform where homeowners design renovations with AI, get estimates priced from supplier catalogues, and connect with contractors; and where contractors and suppliers list their services, products and prices.
We are responsible for the personal information we collect. Our privacy officer can be reached at privacy@remowise.com. We handle personal information in line with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and other privacy laws that apply to you.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, email address, phone number, password (stored by our authentication provider in hashed form, never readable by us), preferred language and account type. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google.
- Your room and project: photos of your space (including extra angles and reference photos), the designs we generate, notes, marks you place on photos, the look you describe, room type and size, finish level, budget, the changes you ask for, and the estimates we produce.
- Site visit requests: your name, email, phone number, postal code and any message, together with the project you are asking about.
- Contractors and suppliers: business name and contact person, contact details, website, service areas, trades, licence, insurance and WSIB information, portfolio photos and descriptions, product listings and prices, and rates for the work you price.
- Messages: anything you send us by email or through the platform.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data: pages visited, features used (for example uploading a photo, generating a design or requesting a site visit), device and browser type, approximate location derived from your IP address, and referring pages, through Google Analytics and PostHog. If you are signed in, PostHog links this activity to your account ID and account type, not your name or email.
- Session recordings: PostHog may record how you use our pages (what appears on screen, clicks, scrolling, text entered in forms, and the photos and designs you work with) so we can find problems and improve the studio. Passwords are always hidden. Recordings are only viewed by our team.
- Service records: a one-way hashed form of your IP address and the time of each design we generate, to enforce daily limits and prevent abuse; and technical logs our hosting provider keeps to run and secure the service.
- Stored in your browser: your language choice and designs you have not saved yet, so a refresh or sign-up does not lose them. This stays on your device until you save the design or clear your browser data.
Voice input:when you use the microphone button, speech is turned into text by your browser’s built-in speech recognition, which may send audio to the browser maker (for example Google or Apple) under their own privacy terms. We do not receive or store any audio, only the resulting text if you submit it.
Please only upload photos you have the right to share, and avoid photos that show people, documents or other personal details you do not want processed.
3. How we use it
- To create designs, estimates, material lists and schedules from your photos and requests.
- To create and secure your account, save your projects and homes, and show you your project’s progress.
- To pass your site visit request and project to contractors, and to coordinate the visit and any follow-up.
- To list contractors’ and suppliers’ profiles, products and prices, review and approve partner accounts, and price homeowners’ estimates.
- To send service emails: account confirmation, password resets, and messages about your projects or partner account.
- To understand how the platform is used and improve it, using aggregated analytics.
- To prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our terms and limits, and meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
4. How our AI features use your content
To generate designs and understand your requests, we send your photos, notes, marks and descriptions to AI providers: Google (Gemini) for images and Anthropic (Claude) for reading requests, suggesting room sizes and organizing product catalogues. They process this content to return a result to us, under business terms that do not allow them to use it to train their models.
AI results can be wrong. Designs are concept images and estimates are indicative; see our Terms of Service.
6. Storage outside Canada
Our service providers store and process information in the United States and other countries. While there, it may be accessible to courts, law enforcement and national security authorities under the laws of those countries. We choose providers that protect information to a standard comparable to ours.
8. How long we keep it
- Account information, saved projects, photos and designs: while your account is open, and deleted within 30 days after you ask us to delete your account, unless we must keep something longer by law.
- Photos used to generate a design without saving it: processed to create the design and not kept in our storage.
- Site visit requests: for as long as the project is active and up to 24 months after, so we can support follow-up and resolve disputes.
- Hashed IP records for design limits: up to 90 days.
- Partner profiles and listings: while the partner account is open.
- Analytics data: up to 14 months in Google Analytics; PostHog events and session recordings according to our PostHog plan’s retention, and no longer than 12 months.
9. Your choices and rights
You can:
- ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy;
- ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- delete projects and update your profile from your account, or ask us to delete your account entirely;
- withdraw consent to uses that rely on it, which may mean we can no longer provide parts of the service;
- opt out of analytics as described above.
Email privacy@remowise.com from the address on your account. We respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
10. Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls that limit who can see project files, private storage for homeowners’ photos, and reviewed access for our team. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify you and the Privacy Commissioner as the law requires.
11. Children
Remowise is for adults planning renovations. It is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
12. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change and change the date at the top. For significant changes, we will also let account holders know by email or in the app.
